Home cinema is a room system, not a shopping list. The screen, seating, loudspeaker angles, subwoofer locations, treatment, electronics, lighting and cooling all affect the result.

Focal’s catalogue spans large reference loudspeakers, design-led stereo families, compact surround packages, an immersive all-in-one system and 16-channel processing. The right entry point is the experience you want and the room available to create it.

This guide uses “home cinema” and “home theatre” interchangeably for Indian search intent; the design principles are the same.

Fast comparison

Range, room, reason.

This is positioning guidance, not a ranking. Room fit and system integration matter more than choosing the largest cabinet.

Design the room first

Six decisions shape the cinema.

A floor plan is more useful than a product shortlist at the beginning. These decisions determine what the system must do and which Focal family can do it comfortably.

  1. 01

    Living room or dedicated room?

A shared room prioritises appearance and flexibility. A dedicated room can optimise geometry, isolation and treatment.

  2. 02

    How many seats?

Every extra row changes sightlines, speaker angles, bass consistency and required output.

  3. 03

    5.1, 5.1.2, 7.1.4—or another layout?

Use the layout the room can position correctly. Channel count should follow geometry, not marketing.

  4. 04

    Screen or television?

A projection screen can influence centre-speaker position, baffle-wall design, equipment location and ambient-light control.

  5. 05

    How will bass be managed?

Subwoofer quantity and position are chosen for seat-to-seat consistency, not only maximum impact.

  6. 06

Where will heat and noise go?

Amplifiers, processors and projectors need power, ventilation, access and quiet operation planned early.

India planning · Pune experience

Specify for the room. Audition for confidence.

For projects in Pune, Mumbai, Maharashtra and other suitable locations in India, selection should account for construction schedules, electrical stability, HVAC loads, finish lead times and service access—not only acoustic performance.

At the Focal Experience Center in Pune, All Home Living can turn a floor plan into a relevant shortlist, demonstrate the differences that matter and coordinate the chosen system with your architect or interior designer.

Frequently asked

Planning a Focal home cinema in India.

Which Focal home cinema range is best for a Pune apartment?

Compact rooms often begin with Theva, Sib Evo, Dôme Flax or Mu-so Hekla, but the right answer depends on room volume, seating distance, desired output and how much equipment can be visible.

Which Focal range suits a dedicated home theatre?

Aria Evo X, Vestia, Kanta, Sopra and Utopia can all form dedicated systems at different levels. The room design, acoustics and electronics should determine the family and model.

Can All Home Living design projects outside Pune?

The guide targets clients across India. All Home Living’s Focal Experience Center is in Pune; project consultation, specification and coordination can be discussed for suitable locations.

Should speakers be selected before acoustic treatment?

They should be developed together. Speaker directivity, seating, screen, subwoofer positions, treatment depth and target listening level affect one another.

Is a 7.1.4 system always better than 5.1.2?

No. More channels help only when the room can support correct geometry, separation and calibration. A well-planned smaller layout can outperform a crowded one.
