Mission Bookshelf Speaker – SX2 (Pair)
Mission SX2 speakers are the larger stand mount model in Mission’s new SX range and feature beautifully designed multi-layed veneer cabinets in a choice of finishes and look and sound stunning. With better bass response than the SX1, they are an excellent choice where larger bookshelf speakers can be accommodated.
These are excellent speakers for music – or alternatively use them as part of a home cinema speaker set-up.
- A 2 Way bass reflex bookshelf speaker system.
- Mission SX2 deploys titanium domed tweeter.
- The titanium gives astonishing purity and detail yet can reach frequencies of up to 40,000Hz.
- The composite aluminium cones are tonally matched to the treble unit for smooth and consistent sound.
- Designed for use in a number of different locations, including close to a rear wall, the SX2s aren’t nearly as fussy as most speakers are with regards to room placement.
Cabinet Construction if the Mission SX2 Bookshelf Speaker
Sweeping curves across every cabinet surface are there for a reason. As well as hindering the production of internal standing waves, each cabinet is constructed from a precise formula of interleaving wood layers, glued and pressed at high temperature for 48 hours and then left to cool naturally so that internal stresses are eliminated. The result is a cabinet of acoustically inert properties – a perfect chassis for the working parts of the loudspeaker.
All New Crossovers used in the Mission SX2 Bookshelf Speaker
The crossover utilizes Mission’s new ‘perfect phase’ technology. Each model is specifically designed to work well in a variety of placements, even when placed close to a rear wall, marking the speakers easy to position in typical rooms. Every speaker in the Mission SX Series is designed to deliver maximum sonic performance for minimum outlay in a practical design that’s purpose-built for modern living.
Some of the innovative improvements for SX series include the composite alloy based diaphragms of the midrange and bass units which provide detailed sonic performance and extremely low distortion from the driver due to the stiffness of the material. The Mission TD treble unit dome is made of light but very rigid Titanium which reproduces high frequencies with astonishing clarity and purity. With years of expertise built-in, the SX Series are able to once again showcase the iconic Mission sound. Truly a great example of modern design marries with a powerful sonic performance.
Who better to explain the Mission SX design process than Director for Acoustic Design, Peter Comeau? “…We spent hundreds of hours refining the cabinet design until its simple lines let the eye dwell on the beauty of the piano finished veneers, but we’ve also taken an equal amount of time to refine the drivers and crossovers to let the ear relish the detail and passion of the musical performance. The result is that these speakers look stunningly beautiful in the home, and sound as good as they look. In this case you can have your cake and eat it!”
